Before Short Heath Lest We Forget was formed, we had come into contact with the father and mother of a soldier who had been killed in Iraq. It became one of the main objectives of Short Heath Lest We Forget was to make sure that their son’s name was placed alongside those who had lost their lives in both The Great War (WW1) and The Second World War.
This became one of our first successful fundraising efforts, raising £X,XXX towards the new memorial and a new flag pole at the cenotaph.
In X 2021, we invited Her Majesty The Queen’s Lord Lieutenant to dedicate the new war memorial in a service. Each of the names of the fallen were read out, where they now sit alongside the other fallen heroes of our area.
